WIP Update

I haven’t done a WIP Update in quite a while. I’ve been finishing some things but others I’m procrastinating on. Lately, all I’ve been wanting to do is knit socks for some reason!! 😀

Starting from most recently cast onto the needles:

Jaywalkers Jaywalkers using STR in Dreidel from MY STASH! I AM still doing the KFYS07! I had never read anywhere how THICK this STR yarn is.  I’m using size 2 KP circs (really a size 2.5) and this sock is HUGE but fits perfectly.  It just looks really big and thick.  Also, the yarn is kinda hard.  I wonder if it gets super soft after you wear and wash them.  I’m having lots of fun with these! They’re pretty easy to knit up. I DID get stuck with the heel though because since I SWEAR I’m an expert I wasn’t paying attention to the instructions and completely missed one part of the flap. Figures. I even emailed poor Kathy (aka Grumperina) to ask her if there was anything there. She very nicely told me that she didn’t know what I was doing wrong but was pretty sure the pattern is fine because of all the JW’s already knit out there. She’s so sweet because I’m sure she was thinking, “Dude, there’s been over 600 pairs of JW’s made and you think YOU have found an error all of a sudden? You must be out your rabbit ass mind!!!” :))

Entrelac CapEntrelac Cap using Mountain Majesty Handpaint Originals in Taffy. This pattern is written very weird-like. The instructions for the spreadsheet are not very precise but if you’re familiar with Excel you can figure it out (or email her, or me, for a copy). Also the pattern itself – unless you’ve knitted entrelac before you may find it difficult. I did the Tubular cast-on as she instructs but honestly, I think you can just go with a long-tail cast-on and be fine.

Baby SweaterBaby Sweater using Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in Aqua. I’m designing this baby sweater pattern and hope to be able to share it with you guys soon. Some people have recommended to me to sell my knitting. I wanted to give it a shot – hey, why not right? That’s where the idea for this sweater was born. We’ll see how that goes.

Bog Jacket (1)Bog Jacket using Makalu Lambgora in Manilla Swirl. I looove how soft and squishy this yarn is. This jacket is gonna be sooo warm and cozy. I KNOW it. BUT I don’t love the freakin colorway! I didn’t know it would have all that pink in it. On their website, the pink is more like an off-white. WTF?! Anyway, I decided to continue on with the jacket and we’ll see how it goes. It’s not a terribly exciting knit because it’s all garter so I haven’t chatted much about it. This is as far as I’ve gotten.

Diamond Top SocksVictorian Diamond Top Socks using Knit Picks Essential in Cocoa. My first solid-colored socks. I wanted to use dpns so that I could use my sock suitcase cuz I’m “special” like that! Yeah. :-B The pattern is pretty simple. I’ll probably try to finish these soon. Maybe I’ll refrain from casting on yet another pair after the Jaywalkers are done and just finish these. Maybe…!

Branching OutBranching Out using an Italian Merino laceweight I picked up at School Products in the City. I dunno why I started knitting this. I think it was because I wanted to use up the yarn, plus I figured I should just make one of these because damn I’m probably one of maybe three people in the knitting world that hasn’t made one! I should get on this so that I can gift it to one of my kids’ teachers at the end of the year.

Lady Eleanor (1)Lady Eleanor using Patons SWS in Natural Blue. I am LOVING this knit. I love making all the little rectangles. It’s a lot of fun. It is taking me a while because I’m enjoying it so much. I should also hurry up and finish this one because my office is fucking FREEZING most of the time! I can’t wait until it’s done so I can wrap up in it at work. I’ll probably leave it there. The thing is, I fear it’s going to be so cozy that I’ll fall right asleep! I-)

Well, that’s it for now. Seven projects on the needles. Let’s see if I don’t add another one before the week is out! 😀

PS: I’m about one project away from another Yarn Diet Goal! Can some of you guys entice me with a sweet lovely yarn out there??? I have one on my wishlist – Schaeffer Marjanna from Little Knits so I may end up just getting that. Unless there’s something else out there… 😉

A couple of FO’s

I’ve been steadily knitting over the past couple of weeks on various projects (gotta get rolling on my Yarn Diet: Round 3!!!). I don’t have any yarn in mind yet that I’m salivating after for when I finish this round but I’m sure SOMETHING will come up. You know we knitters don’t exactly have a problem with that sort of thing! LOL

For now, here’s two things I knit up on Sunday. Stash busting!! WOO HOO!

On Sock Knitting and Another Update

Man I done called this fool (the real priest) twice already and he keeps saying how he “spoke to the deacon” and he’ll call me tomorrow with a date of when we’ll meet!!!!

For him to call me back yesterday with that much I had to leave a message with the receptionist threatening to call the archdiocese if he didn’t call me back with an answer AFTER having spoken to the deacon BY THAT EVENING! He called me back within 15 minutes talking all this jazz about how he spoke to the deacon but is still waiting for the deacon to “check his schedule” – such BULLCRAP!!! UGH! I didn’t know priests could lie!! It sure feels like that was a lie! Cuz I didn’t know you need a whole week to CHECK YOUR SCHEDULE. Then he comes at me with, “oh, the deacon has a full time job!” I said, “oh yeah??? well i have a full-time job, four kids and a husband and I WILL STILL MAKE TIME FOR WHENEVER THIS MEETING IS SCHEDULED!”

Soooo annoying!!

He’s supposed to call me back today. We’ll see!

In the meantime I started reading the bible. The one in contemporary English. I plan to regale you guys with my take on this study once in a while so let me know if I bore you!

Take 1: I’m reading how God created the Earth and Adam and Eve and they had two boys. Cain and Abel. Cain kills Abel. Next paragraph: Cain marries……

UMMM HELLO!! Did I miss something here?? Did I zone out?? Skim back….flip, flip, flip…..hmmm, nope….Cain kills Abel….Cain marries….hmmmm – So…Did he marry Eve? or maybe a sister of his? Either way, it’s incest…I thought that was wrong?

I kept going nevertheless. Got to Noah. I love Noah and his story. I have always loved him ever since I heard the song Noe by Ruben Blades. LOOVE me some Ruben!! MM MM MMMMM! He tells the story of Noe in salsa! Wonderful!

On Socks:

I finished knitting the first of my socks made from my own pattern. I decided to call them Fuego! as the yarn I’m using is Ablaze from Yarn Ahoy. Love the yarn. Just that I picked the wrong pattern for the yarn AGAIN! I think the pattern is really nice and personally, I think I did a good job putting it together! LOL

Do any of you want to try it? If you do, I’ll hold a contest and have judges and what not and give sock yarn as prizes….wink, wink….

Also, does anyone have any tips for me on how to choose the correct pattern for the type of yarn? I did a swatch and all and thought it would go ok…

If you clic on the pic you’ll see many more pictures.

I also started the Traveler’s Stockings from Knitting on the Road by Nancy Bush. I love this pattern – but again, it may not be the correct yarn for it. What do you guys think?
