Gooooooooal!!

Ya’ll see this? This here signifies the END OF THE DIET! I have reached my goal. Yup. I half-cheated this weekend when I bought the yarn for this hat but I was only a hat or a scarf away from finishing so it was just a small advance payment! HA!

This here is the 3-cornered hat from Elizabeth Zimmerman’s book Knitter’s Almanac. Same book that has the Ganomy hat. It was a super fast knit. I used Catalina Chunky yarn from the Yarn Tree DOUBLE stranded on size 13 needles. The only mod I did was to cast on an additional 6 sts because apparently my head is too big! Actually, it was because EZ has a gauge of 5.25 sts per 2″. Mine is 5 sts….now that I measure it!! Geeze! I made a booboo! LOL When I had cast on the required 36 sts the hat wasn’t fitting me. Go figure. Oh well. I love how big and bulky it is.

Whaddya think?

Now for my treat for reaching my goal, I’m shopping at the following two etsy shops: Yarnahoy and Adam Knits. I know what I’m getting from Adam already. It’s this DELISH colorway he has!!! Still browsing Yarnahoy.

But I think that’s it for now. Too much holiday shopping to do! So..back on the yarn diet again until the next 5 projects are complete!

Happy Blogiversary, Rosi G.!

Wow, a whole year already. This is amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever kept a “diary” this long. LOL

I’m very happy to have met so many of you through blogging and knitting. I’ve learned so much from a lot of you. Thanks and keep on blogging!!!

For the contest, I thought of doing something where you would go on a sorta scavenger hunt through my blog for the answers to five questions. But I’m so busy knitting that I’ll make it really simple for everyone: just leave me a comment and I’ll use a random number generator to pick the winner – or toss people’s names in a hat and pick a name! I’ll decide on Monday. I’ll give everyone til Monday to post comments. Don’t post a thousand comments either! Limit is two comments per person on this same post. And full sentences on each comment! LOL

Spread the word, anyone can play!!

Now for some FO’s I’ve made recently towards my Yarn Diet goal (see sidebar).

These are 3 hats. Click on each pic for more info. (Hey, Wendy! I was able to figure out how to mistake rib all the way through the hat. Just try to follow the pattern while doing the decreases. LOL)

I finished these mittens for the daughter of a friend of mine.

So much

I have so much to blog about. I really want to vent and scream and yell about problems with TWFKAM. But I’m so tired of talking about it and thinking about it that now I just wanna put it off. Let me just say that I seriously fear that one day she’s going to kidnap my oldest son, Alex. 🙁

On October 30th, Rossani turned 5. FIVEEEE! GEESH! Where did that time go? So on Saturday we did a little costume birthday party for her. Can ya’ll guess why I only do parties every 4 or 5 years for one of the kids? Next time I get it in my head, please smack me. Gracias!

Sunday I was sooo tired! I cleaned and mopped super early in the morning then vegged out in my knitting chair until I got up to cook for dinner. The kids handled lunch and breakfast. I love my kids. They really lend a helping hand when needed. I was so tired I actually let myself take a NAP in my knitting chair. Something I absolutely never do because I feel that if I nap in the afternoon, then I can’t get to bed later that night. It was only slightly difficult to fall asleep later on. I got all snug and cuddly with Tano and promptly ZONKED OUT! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Speaking of birthdays, my boss, Lauren, asked me to knit up some fingerless gloves for her Godmother who will be turning 95 this weekend. Yep, you read it right. That is NOT a typo. NINETY-FIVE! Bless her heart! Lauren thought it’d be a good idea to get her those types of gloves to wear indoors in the winter. I immediately thought it would be a good time to go to Knitty City. I took one of my SkadKnit students with me for her first trip to a REAL Jarn store. She thought the store was super nice but didn’t buy anything….yet.

Artyarns Handpaint StripesLornaI picked up two skeins for Lauren to choose from. Lorna’s Laces Swirl DK in a fabulous blue and aqua colorway and Artyarns Handpaint Stripes also in aqua with some gray. Lauren liked both and said whichever. I chose the LL. So I knit up the gloves real quick using my Handy Dandy Pattern Book. They knit up sooo soft and cuddly. AND TINY! 😀 Lauren wanted to pay me for them but I wouldn’t accept. I ended up letting her make me keep the $26 of change from the $40 she’d given me to buy the yarn with. I think that was fine cuz Lauren is mad cool with me. I’m getting pretty good at making the fingers! GO ROSI G.!

Jeanine said that since that money was EARNED while knitting I could treat myself to some Jarn! YAAAAY She’s such an enabler excellent knitting buddy. I’m very glad I met her and hope we stay in touch as much as Necia and I have. I promptly started shopping and then decided to coerce convince bribe ask her and Necia to join me at Seaport Yarns yesterday evening for an impromptu visit. I was good. I only went over by $7!! 😀

On the left: Araucania Atacama (yarn from Chile). On the right: Mountain Majesty Handpaint Originals. (I’ve already cast on for a hat for Tano with the Atacama. Sooooo soft! Yarn Pr0n one of these Fridays!)  (Click on each picture for more info about the yarns.)

Last night, I cast on for the Lady Eleanor entrelac shawl from Scarf Style so that Jeanine and I can get our KAL on! I’m using the Patons SWS that I was planning on using for a Clapotis for this instead. I saw one in started in the same colorway and I think it looks GREAT!

As far as all the other WIPs in my bag, there being knit on regularly. All of them! LOL

A few weeks ago, I won a contest on Theresa’s blog, Knitting Underway! Go me!! 😀 She sent me some LOVELY Claudia Handpainted sock yarn. Isn’t it booteeful? She also sent me this cute little white drawstring bag which I forgot to take a picture of. Thanks again, Theresa!!!
